Welcome to our developer blog!
We are 7 game developers working on a game, currently called Rootless. We have been developing our game for 4 weeks now with 9 week development time given to us to send it to Steam. Our aim as a group is to finish making at least the first chapter of the game in this time frame. Our progress has been quite fast and we have finished many mayor things like environments and main game mechanisms. We even have art of many of our characters in the game.
We have very talented people on our team that have been working hard about 30 hours a week to accomplish what we can. It hasn’t been an easy time since from the start there has been many confusions about stuff and sudden changes have been made. We use tools like Zenhub and Discord to keep track on what others are doing and we are also working on the same office space in the same room. We make sure we are here all daily to meet up together and discuss our problems and plans.
Our games focuses mainly on the story and puzzles. We didn’t really have anyone too familiar making puzzles, but with many people we have come up with puzzles and even now there is confusing scribbles on our whiteboard. The puzzles aren’t only on our whiteboard, but our great programmer has done test puzzles already in Unity too.
Our other main focus is on our story. We have three people writing our story, product owner having the main storyline thought through already. Like mentioned before, we are working to release at least the first chapter of the game this autumn before our deadline. We are most likely not stopping there on this game, we are determined to finish this game fully someday.
We are still all students, but we hope to bring out an enjoyable game for you all with our skills. The games early access will be releasing on Steam for free this December so look forward to that!
